Terms of service
Terms of service
Last updated September 27, 2026. These terms form a binding agreement between LiveCases.net, a Canadian startup operated as a sole proprietorship in Kingston, Ontario (“LiveCases”), and the person or organization using the service (“you”).
Accepting these terms
You accept these terms when you create an account or use the service. An institutional agreement takes effect when both parties sign it. If you accept on behalf of an organization, you confirm that you have authority to bind it, have read these terms, and accept them on its behalf.
1. The service and your content
LiveCases grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable and non-sublicensable license to use the service. Creators build case studies with AI characters from their own sources and instructions, run live class sessions, and review participant conversations.
You are responsible for everything you upload or enter (“your content”), including case sources, files and messages. Only upload material you have the right to use. You keep ownership of your content and can remove it at any time. LiveCases accepts no responsibility for copyright violations in content you provide.
2. What LiveCases may do
We use your content only to provide the service to you and the people you share it with. We do not claim ownership of it or use it for any other purpose without your consent, and we do not use it to train AI models. We may review content and conversations when needed to investigate a reported problem, abuse or a legal request.
We may use feedback you send us to improve the service. We may suspend or close access for violations of these terms or conduct that harms other users or the service (see section 4).
3. Changes to these terms
We may change these terms, the service, or access to it. We will email you about material changes to the address on your account. The current version is always at livecases.org/terms.
4. What you must not do
- Copy, sell, sublicense or build derivative works from the service outside the teaching use it is provided for.
- Reverse engineer the service or try to obtain its source code.
- Bypass access controls, usage limits or security measures.
- Upload malicious software, infringing, defamatory or unlawful material, or content that violates anyone's privacy.
- Put sensitive personal information about real, identifiable people into case sources without the right to do so.
- Use the service to promote a competing product, or impersonate LiveCases, its staff or another user.
5. Your responsibilities
Keep your sign-in details confidential, control access to your account, and keep your account information accurate. You agree to indemnify and hold harmless LiveCases and the people who operate the service against third-party claims arising from your use of the service or your content. LiveCases controls the defense and settlement of such claims, and you will cooperate reasonably.
6. No warranty and limited liability
The service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied.
AI characters are simulations. They can produce incorrect, incomplete or inappropriate answers, and their replies are not verified facts. Use your own judgment. Case creator verification confirms information an administrator reviewed; it does not mean an institution endorses a case or guarantees its accuracy.
To the extent the law allows, LiveCases is not liable for direct, indirect, special, incidental or consequential damages, including loss of profits, revenue, data or business opportunities, arising from these terms or your use of the service.
7. Intellectual property
The service and its software, design and features belong to LiveCases and are protected by intellectual property laws. Your content remains yours.
8. Privacy and account deletion
Our privacy policy is part of these terms. You can delete your account from your profile at any time; what we remove and keep is described there. You can download transcripts and case exports before deleting.
9. Coins
AI replies and case builds use coins from the organizer's balance at the published rates. You see the maximum cost of a case build before you confirm it, and a session's coin budget limits what its participants can use. Participants are never charged.
Approved case creators can buy coins and the Premium plan. Stripe processes payments and issues invoices. Coins have no cash value, do not expire and cannot be transferred or exchanged. Premium renews monthly until you cancel; after canceling it stays active until the paid period ends, with no refund for the rest of the period. If a payment is refunded or lost in a bank dispute, the coins it bought are removed, which can leave a negative balance, and spending pauses while a dispute is open. Rates may change for future use; sessions keep the rates they started with.
10. Suspension and closing
You may stop using the service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or close access for misuse, including unauthorized access attempts, exceeding usage limits, automated scraping or reselling the service, for violations of section 4, or for legal reasons. We will email you the reason.
11. General
- Sections 2 and 4 to 11 survive the end of this agreement.
- You may not assign or transfer your rights or obligations under these terms.
- A waiver is valid only in writing.
- If part of these terms is unenforceable, the rest stays in effect.
- These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario, and its courts have exclusive jurisdiction. The parties want these terms and related documents written in English. C'est la volonté expresse des parties que la présente convention ainsi que les documents qui s'y rattachent soient rédigés en anglais.
